ANNIE  / FINE ARTIST

When the call to create sounds, deep and resonant, Annie has developed an open ear, a ready hand, and an unfettered willingness to explore. She’ll gladly wave aside stress or exhaustion to imbue as many hours of her day as possible with self-reflection, genuine connection, honest expression, and vivid color.

In the midst of a life woven with love, loss, and learning, letting go of what others choose and instead grounding herself in the most authentic choices she can make has been Annie’s way forward

Having always been attracted, if not addicted, to color, Annie’s latest paintings depict nature, seasons, emotions, and chakras in a riotous range of hues. Not merely splashes on canvas, the pieces sustain a raw emotional throughline; allowing receptive viewers to step back into the shared search we all engage in for that single salient thing. Love.

While born from a casual initial thought to paint mandalas for the pure fun of exploring something new, it became evident very quickly that she had tapped into something primed and ready to flow from her at a rapid pace. Each painting is about an aspect of the ego; those pure moments when expression of the self arises from our need to survive and self-preservation wins out. Deep within many of us is emotion we are not aware of, buried and hiding, awaiting a conduit for energetic expression. This work offers a window into Annie’s personal excavation, persistence, survival, and search.

She’s called Auburn home for the last 10 years and in that time Annie has become intrinsically tied to the town’s art community. Like many residents, Auburn’s natural beauty draws her outdoors often, captures her soul, and sparks her creativity. She gardens, paddleboards, and plays pickleball, while finding time to play games with friends, cook delicious, healthy food, and graciously serve what is undoubtedly the town’s largest and most lovely cat, Bella.

Annie is not one to shy away from a new challenge or idea, thus she explores making ceramics, felting, and other mixed media while working on paintings.

Recently, her work has been displayed and sold at the Auburn Naturopathic Wellness Center and at the Auburn Clay Arts Studio during the 30th annual Placer Artists Tour.
